ARTIST STATMENT I am an artist who utilizes shapes and colors to investigate the relative nature of reality based on the physiology of sight. By painting uniform and meticulously crafted patterns consisting of pentagons, hexagons, squares, and circles with contrasting colors I cause the shapes to move or vibrate. Blown and hot-sculpted glass, clear and colored, imitate the patterns to offer the viewer a new perspective of what they thought they knew. As the paintings reflect through the glass and occupy its internal space our perception of both 2D and 3D objects is shifted, prompting considerations about how reality can be altered from one person’s unique lens to the next.
