George Bellows Fund
Since 2015, the George Bellows Fund (previously known as the George Bellows Grant Program) has provided funding in support of individual artists, artistic collaborations, and community-based organizations investing in the fundamental value of arts and culture in the Franklinton community. Activities eligible for grant consideration include public art projects, community engagement activities through the arts, and arts educational programs.
Individuals or organizations applying for project support must provide a detailed, site-specific plan that demonstrates impact within the Franklinton community and encompasses the mission of The George Bellows Grant Program. A panel of qualified individuals will evaluate grant applications based on a set of criteria designed to determine the evidence of cultural and artistic vibrancy, as well as public benefit and access. The program may accept requests up to $2,000. Annual Timeline: Application Opens - First Monday of August Application Closes - September 30 Application review - October Grants Extended - November Agreements received - December Initial Payment Issued - January 2 of the project year Final Payment Issued - July 1 of the project year (If 6 month report received) or upon completion of project) Final Report Due - January 30 of the following year |

The George Bellows Fund Grant is an annual award given to individual artists, artistic collaborations, and community-based organizations investing in the fundamental value of arts and culture in the Franklinton community. Funds provided are possible through the efforts of Scrawl artists, Art for Franklinton patrons, sponsors, and donors.
"Of all the roles Franklinton Arts District (FAD) plays in Franklinton, the one that means the most is that of being a resource," said Johnny Riddle, Executive Director of Franklinton Arts District. "The District is only as strong as the artists and arts organizations who create and thrive here. It is our responsibility to provide as much strength as possible and one that we don't take lightly."
The Franklinton Arts District awarded $16,800 to 9 artists, arts organizations, and community initiatives.

- 17 Scrawl artists received funding support to address financial hardship caused by the pandemic. Covered expenses include, but are not limited to: housing, utilities, transportation, childcare, loss of employment, late and past due bills, food, emergency repairs, personal expenses, etc.
