OCTOBER 15, 12-10 PM | OCTOBER 16, 12-6 PM

SCRAWL 16 IS COOLER THAN EVER 2022 WITH NEW FALL DATES ON OCTOBER 15 & 16!

Scrawl 16 is bringing you the immersive mobile mural experience you love as well as 2 permanent murals from the city’s best visual artists. To continue building the next generation of muralists, we’re also introducing a brand-new emerging artist program called YEA! (Young Emerging Artists!). In addition to witnessing murals galore, you’ll get to explore and purchase the works of local artists and vendors at 400 West Rich studios, Show & Sell, and Scrawl Marketplace; get down to DJ sets and breakdancing exhibitions; eat at the city’s tastiest food trucks; learn about the community organizations making an impact on Franklinton; and get creative with kids’ activities at Scrawl Jr. We can’t wait to welcome you to the Franklinton Arts District!

WHY ‘SCRAWL’?

Our new name isn’t really that new. Scrawl has been the shorthand that our artists, organizers, and long-time attendees have used for years. Our new name reflects growth and change. This year’s event will feature a larger footprint, more community partners, and new experiences. Scrawl speaks to our growth – both up to this point and in the years to come. Our new name is welcoming to all. We understand the powerful role that the arts play in our culture and, as our culture has shifted in the 16 years since we started, it's now more important than ever to set an example. While our original name “Urban Scrawl” started out as a play on words to critique “urban sprawl” and the suburbanization of Columbus, we recognize that not everyone may view our name through this lens. We understand that words matter, and that “urban” has become widely misused to exploit and stigmatize people of color, especially within the arts. It is our goal to be an inclusive organization and event that values and welcomes all artists and voices.
